What is Quetzal?

2008 September 4

It’s not a common word – but ‘Quetzal’s aren’t a common species! (Pun intended for all those who are able to get it!) ;)

According to Wikipedia, Quetzals are strikingly colored birds of the trogon family (Trogonidae) found in tropical regions of the Americas.

For the uninitiated, ‘Quetzal’ (pronounced KATE-Sal) is “A famous long-tailed bird of Central America, which is the national bird of Guatemala.” It is also the national bird of Guatemala and the name of it’s currency.

Interestingly, it is also the name of the Company I am at. It has been started 4 Alumni from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM A). The Quetzal Group of Companies (www.Quetzal.in) are presently into the education, HR, risk management and online spaces. There are currently 2 Business Units – what we can SBUs:

  • Quetzal Online which is into Education, Content Development, Software and technology-driven education. TenADay – www.tenaday.in, the most popular online CAT Preparation website in India is one of our products.
  • Quetzal Verify is an end-to-end Human Resources service provider and is currently into Corporate Training, Recruitment and Background Verification. (http://www.qverify.com)
